I have released the code here for anyone to use (main logic is in cli.c): After looking into flashing Libreboot/Coreboot via SPI directly to the BIOS Flash and realizing that I could no longer run Windows XP (this laptop was used for vehicle diagnostics, so FOSS was not an option), I decided to write my own tool to recover the SVP from the EEPROM on the machine. A little googling and I quickly found out that this was not going to be an easy wipe.

When I booted the machine I realized that the CMOS battery was there to keep the time set in the BIOS as the machine had an unknown SVP (supervisor password). I thought it peculiar that the CMOS battery was attached to the board, but decided to remove it as the original CMOS battery was still good and still in place. I ordered the right FRU and got it in a few days later.

My next choice was to get a used board from eBay and swap it in. I had a go with some flux and my trusty hot air gun, but was not successful in fixing it. I was recently asked to bring an old T60 from the brink of death as the GPU was failing and there were massive artifacts on the screen.
